Roger Parnell
PJGS 1951 Entrant

Roger Parnell (PJGS 1951 Entrant)  is a retired detective who worked on one of the biggest murder cases ever to be investigated in the UK.We all remember the fear that reigned over Yorkshire in the late 70's and the mention of the killer's nickname, the Yorkshire Ripper, still sends shivers down the spine of Yorkshire folk today.

In his own words, "I always wanted to join the police so I joined as a Police Cadet in 1956 and later a PC at the age of 19. I retired rom the police in 1992 and at the time of my retirement I was the longest serving detective in Yorkshire - out of a total of 36 years service I was a detective for 27 years. I worked on many murder investigations including the Yorkshire Ripper and I personally arrested 4 murderers.
I made a DVD of the Yorkshire Ripper which was later put on You Tube.
I did so because I had seen so many programmes about the Ripper in which the programme makers had made things up so, along with an old colleague (now deceased), we made a true documentary about it all. I wrote the script and introduced it on film.
After Sutcliffe's arrest I went into the Murder Incident Room in Leeds where with permission I now have much of the original details, paperwork etc. and do from time to time give a talk and film show of all of the FACTS."
